The MikroTik RouterBoard SXTG-5HnD is a cost-effective network solution that can be used as an access point or point-to-point link.
The MikroTik RouterBoard SXTG-5HnD is a very flexible device. You can use it for point-to-point link, when you have to deal with a pair of networked technologies only. However, you can also transform this into an access point so you’ll be able to connect a lot of devices at one time. It has 1 Gigabit Ethernet port that easily allows you to share storage and media devices within the network and a USB port. It doesn’t have the miniPCI slot.
The access point or point-to-point link system has a dimension of 140 by 140 by 56 mm and has a weight of 265 grams. The compactness of the device makes it easy to work with, especially during the installation process. Since it’s an outdoor device, it’s designed to withstand a variety of environmental conditions so it remains stable and useful for a considerable amount of time.
It also has its own antenna that boosts the device’s ability to receive and transmit signals. The gain is actually high at 16dBi despite being a low-cost technology. The TX power is 26dBm. It has an integrated wireless system that supports 802.11a/n standard. It taps on the 5GHz frequency, which is less congested and thus has less noise and interference. It also means a stronger throughput.
The MikroTik RouterBoard SXTG-5HnD already has a pre-installed RouterOS L3, which can be easily upgraded to version 6.x so you can enhance its different functionalities. It supports protocols such as RIP and OSPF, as well as multiple tunnels for EoIP, PPPoE, PPTP, and L2TP. You can also create unlimited VLAN interfaces. It has a RADIUS client for authentication and more enhanced security.
The operating system works with an AR 7247 MIPS at 400MHz and 32MB RAM
